About Solutions and Eye Drops

Eye drops promise instant relief from dry or irritated eyes, whilst combating several other common eye conditions including allergies and itchiness. They’re a must-have in your eye care routine, especially for wearers of contact lenses, as they can rehydrate the eyes and reduce overall discomfort throughout the day.

Different types of eye drops can also be used to treat various, common eye infections. While over-the-counter eye drops are used to treat general dryness and irritation, more complex eye infections and dryness caused by allergies, conjunctivitis and glaucoma can be treated with prescription eye drops from your GP, pharmacist or optician. If you’ve tried using eye drops but your issues persist or worsen, it’s always best to visit your optician for expert, one-on-one advice.

Here at the optical store, we stock a wide range of eye drops suitable for a variety of different uses and conditions. We’re bound to have the perfect solution for you – and if you’re still unsure, our optical experts are here to help!
What Causes Dry Eyes?
Dry eyes are a common issue which can be easily fixed using suitable eye drops. While wearing contact lenses can encourage your eyes to feel drier than usual, dry eyes can also be a symptom of age, prolonged screen-time, allergies, or a reaction to your environment (wind, air-con, heat, cold, dust, etc.)

The majority of eye drops we stock at the Optical Store are compatible with contact lenses, but you should always check the label and product description to stay on the safe side.
How to Use Eye Drops
Using eye drops is easy! Just follow these simple steps:

Check the expiry date
Wash your hands
Tilt your head back and pull down your lower eyelid
Hold the bottle as close to your eye as possible without making contact, and carefully squeeze one eye drop into the eye
Close your eye gently and tilt your head downwards
Keep your eye shut for at least one minute, before opening and wiping away any excess fluid
Repeat with the other eye, if needed.
